About Koojan Downs Feeding Facility: Koojan Downs feeding facility is located 20kms from Moora and 160kms north of Perth. Koojan Downs is part of the integrated beef supply chain for Harvest Road. This integrated beef supply chain ranges from north to southwest of Western Australia and is based on best-practice ecological planning and animal welfare management. Opportunity: We are currently seeking an experienced and energetic Livestock Manager to join our expanding business. You will lead, train and mentor employees in all day-to-day responsibilities for livestock husbandry, all aspects of cattle health, management of infrastructure (troughs, pen fences) and pen riding for observation of animal health. Located near Moora, WA we are WA’s largest feeding facility and are designed to supply Harvest Road’s processing facility, Harvey Beef. This opportunity will suit a self-motivated person who is hands on and passionate about the agriculture industry. You will have a strong work ethic and be an experienced manager who enjoys leading and mentoring a team to achieve their best results. Please note: You will need to be a highly experienced horse rider. This is a permanent position, those on short term/working holiday visas will not be considered. No FIFO. You will need to have a current driver’s licence and own transport. Key Responsibilities of the role: Carrying out and delegation of all day-to-day livestock operations at Koojan Downs, including stock husbandry and all aspects of cattle health. Supervision, training and on-going mentoring of new and existing staff. Ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to. Communication with the other members of the crew and facility management. Unload and load cattle into and out of the facility for processing. Supporting the Leading Livestock Hands to coordinate and perform the movement of cattle. Recording of cattle movements and treatments in livestock management software. Ability to pen ride to observe the welfare of the animals daily. Administering medicine or performing simple welfare tasks on an animal. Other duties as required. Ideal skillset: Previous experience leading/managing a Livestock team (desirable but not essential). Knowledge of the National Feedlot Accreditation Scheme (NFAS). Genuine dedication to animal welfare. Low stress animal handling experience. Vet Chem certification. Ability and enthusiasm to empower team members with knowledge and skills. Progressive and positive attitude. Current driver’s licence. Be a capable and experienced rider. Willingness to work on a 5/2 roster basis, plus weekend roster. Constantly demonstrate commitment to safe working practices and animal welfare. Able to work autonomously or as part of a team. Enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working, willing to contribute to the Harvest Road’s culture and values. High computer literacy. High attention to detail.
